I LOVE using mixing with saturation and cool sounding analog hardware.
And do you know what I love even more than that?
MIXING WITH EFFECT PEDALS.
It is just so much fun, and it can take you in new directions that you’d never reach with standard EQs and compressors, reverbs or delays.
…But to be honest, I’ve fallen away from wanting to actually send my audio outside the computer these days.
Fortunately, there’s now no shortage of great sounding analog emulations, and we’re finally getting to the point where increasingly unique and boutique hardware is being modeled exceptionally well—often by some smaller and newer developers you may not know of yet.
One of my favorites that I’ve stumbled across recently is MixWave. They have an incredibly well-captured lineup of vibey effects, saturators and pedals that sound unique, inspiring, and instantly make sounds feel more “finished” than where you started.
Join me as MixWave founder and GRAMMY-nominated mixing engineer Taylor Larson swings by the channel to show off some of his favorite ways to use analog saturators and pedals on all sorts of sounds.
Big thanks to MixWave for supporting the channel. Try out anything they make for free at MixWave.com.
