LINNER Nova Deluxe OTC Hearing Aids Powered by Single USound MEMS Driver

A new model of OTC hearing aids by LINNER is now available in the United States. As anticipated in July 2023, when LINNER announced it would be using a USound Conamara 6mm MEMS driver for a new OTC hearing aid design, the new LINNER Nova Deluxe is now available. This is the first single MEMS driver audio solution on the market, an achievement that attests to the power of USound’s MEMS technology.

Designed and produced by LINNER, a developer of over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids registered in Santa Clara, CA, the LINNER Nova Deluxe is the first product on the market to utilize one single MEMS speaker, paving the way for more MEMS-powered developments. Targeted at a growing number of people affected by mild to moderate hearing loss, the advanced OTC hearing aid design uses an integrated single MEMS driver from USound, selected for its compact size and sound quality.

“The exemplary design of LINNER Nova Deluxe, the first single MEMS driver audio solution on the market, is a monumental development in the audio industry. Witnessing the effects USound MEMS technology has on the advancements of our customers and partners, inspires us to continue our research and development efforts. At the same time, our speakers are changing the lives of millions of people around the world. People who did not have access to affordable hearing devices and who were stigmatized for their disabilities. We are proud to be part of this development and look forward to seeing our speakers revolutionize the entire audio industry!”, states Ferruccio Bottoni, USound’s CEO.

MEMS drivers are a component of choice for the new OTC hearing aid product category, characterized by a small form factor and affordability, requiring advanced audio quality matched with production consistency – a problem that plagued designs based on conventional dynamic drivers, making effective digital signal processing more difficult. The LINNER Nova Deluxe hearing aid is also distinguished for its lightweight and discreet design.

The design benefits from USound’s Conamara 6mm full-range, ultra thin MEMS drivers, combined with USound’s Tarvos amplifier to optimize power consumption of the overall design. According to USound, the Conamara transducers, when combined with SMT reflow soldering capabilities, enable an automatic pick and place assembly process, which significantly reduces production costs and shortens production time. Another key characteristic is the speakers’ durability and water-resistance capabilities (IPx8 certified). The latter enables the production of waterproof devices that can be worn in the shower, at the beach, and in humid environments.
