Is Canon Preparing at least 3 more PowerZoom Lenses?

Canon enthusiasts can anticipate the arrival of three new PowerZoom lenses this year, expanding the RF lineup with innovative options. Despite the delay in the release of the Canon PZ-E2, which accompanies the RF 24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z, the excitement remains palpable.

Among the imminent releases is the highly anticipated RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z, expected to hit the market in the coming 4-6 months. Additionally, two more PowerZoom lenses are in the pipeline, catering to diverse photography needs.

One of these lenses is rumored to be a full-frame wide-angle zoom, enhancing Canon’s portfolio with versatility. Furthermore, there’s speculation about an RF-S iteration of the beloved EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 USM, catering to APS-C shooters eager for premium performance.

An intriguing prospect is the RF-S 15-60mm f/2.8 IS USM Z, which aligns with recent optical design reports. While resembling an L lens in construction, Canon’s traditional designation approach leaves room for speculation. Nonetheless, the possibility of an RF-S designation brings excitement.

However, the absence of an ideal APS-C camera for an RF-S PowerZoom lens raises questions. While the EOS R7, EOS R10, and EOS R50 are commendable, Canon may seek a more video-centric offering to complement such a lens effectively.

As anticipation mounts for Canon’s latest innovations, enthusiasts eagerly await further details and confirmations regarding the upcoming PowerZoom lenses. The potential for enhanced functionality and performance hints at an exciting future for Canon’s RF system.
