Elon Musk’s latest Path of Exile 2 stream went awry after dying to a tutorial boss and being roasted by other players online.
Despite his leading roles in multiple companies, the world’s richest man still finds time to play video games, at least occasionally. He was briefly known to hold the title of the best Diablo 4 player in the world – though this ended up taking a different turn when players started to accuse him of faking his success.
The fake gamer allegations saga then continued, eventually reaching the point where Elon himself admitted to being boosted in Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2.
Now, in what appears to be an attempt to redeem himself, Musk decided to boot up a Path of Exile 2 stream to show off some his gaming skills. Alas, things didn’t go well for him for various reasons.
Elon Musk gets roasted after dying in Path of Exile 2 live stream
On April 6, 2025, Elon Musk played Path of Exile 2 in a “Starlink airborne continuity test” live stream on X. Barely uttering a word for the whole stream, the businessman was seen playing early parts of the game. Despite supposedly being an expert in the game, his session was far from smooth.
In the stream, Musk was spotted dying repeatedly in the tutorial zone, thus forcing him to create new characters to continue playing as he chose the Hardcore permadeath difficulty. To make matters worse, shortly after going live, he was also bombarded with private messages from other players in the game’s chat.
Many of these messages roasted him during the stream, one of them even told him he “has no friends” in a very spammy way.
Ultimately, Musk’s stream ended abruptly after yet another death to a tutorial boss. Seconds after failing the fight, Musk can be heard saying “connection lost” as his ping spiked and the broadcast came to an unceremonious end.
While many took the opportunity to poke fun at his attempt on social media following the stream, some players reminded others that the game is especially tough on the hardcore setting. Not to mention, a recent update has shaken up the balance somewhat, meaning even ‘skilled’ gamers like Musk have to reacclimate.
“To be fair, they just patched the game recently, which made it a lot tougher for many classes. That being said, him dying to it repeatedly is pretty funny,” explained one user.
