Who’s in the Bet cast? Netflix drops new manga TV show

If you’re looking for a new series to add to your watchlist, Bet has just landed on Netflix. A live-action adaptation of the manga Kakegurui, the teen thriller is brought to life by its fresh cast of kick-ass gamblers.

There are plenty of new Netflix shows to dive into this month, from the second season of the crime thriller Unseen to the anticipated dark comedy Sirens. You might also choose to spend your weekend binge-watching comedy Snakes and Ladders.

But if manga and anime is more your style, the streaming service has plenty to offer. Following on from live-action remakes like Avatar: The Last Airbender and One Piece is Bet, a stylish spin on the hit manga and subsequent anime, Kakegurui.

With Warrior Nun creator Simon Barry at the helm, the new TV show follows mysterious betting champ Yumeko as she heads to St. Dominic’s, a prestigious private school where underground gambling determines social status.

Bet cast & characters

Bringing the high-stakes world of Kakegurui to life is a cast of rising stars. So, here are the actors in the Netflix series and the characters they play.

Yumeko: Miku Martineau

Miku Martineau takes on the lead role of Yumeko, a confident, mysterious pro gambler with a “poker face that can’t be beat.” Although she’s now an orphan, she learned her skills from her mother.

Now she’s putting her experience to good use against the elitist St. Dominic’s students, while also on a secret quest for revenge. Martineau is a rising star, with past acting credits including Honor Society, Kate, and Star Trek: Section 31.

Ryan: Ayo Solanke

Ayo Solanke plays Ryan, a fellow student and Yumeko’s best friend at St. Dominic’s. He’s a little intimidated when he first meets Yumeko, but it’s this nervous energy that she finds charming.

Explaining the rankings to Yumeko, he says, “We play with the monthly stipend provided by our parents. The winnings are everything. And the top ten get into Student Council and wear black jackets.”

If you fall into debt, you become a “House Pet” like him. Alongside Bet, Solanke has starred in Sniper: Rogue Mission and the hit 2025 indie horror Clown in a Cornfield.

Michael: Hunter Cardinal

Hunter Cardinal plays as Michael, another St. Dominic’s student Yumeko grows close to. Described by the Student Council as a “sexy nerd,” he tries to warn Yukemo against the group, saying they’re “dangerous. They play like assassins.”

Although he likes to keep himself to himself, comparing the school to a prison, he soon learns the new girl is a force to be reckoned with. As another up and comer, Cardinal’s other main acting role is the upcoming series Scout.

Mary: Eve Edwards

Eve Edwards takes on the role of Mary, a “scrapper” who is cutthroat in her approach to betting. But is she a match for Yumeko? You can probably guess, but let’s just say she doesn’t hold her position for too long.

While Bet is her first major acting gig, Edwards has enjoyed minor roles in Transplant, The Good Doctor, and The Bad Orphan.

Kira: Clara Alexandrova

As the villain of Bet, Kira is the Super Council President, described by Ryan as having “no heart and no soul.” She’s ruthless and violent, with her cold interior characterized by her blue lipstick.

She’s played by Clara Alexandrova, whose other acting credits include A Million Little Things, Alert: Missing Persons Unit, and Danger in the Dorm.

Dori: Aviva Mongillo

Aviva Mongillo plays Dori, who has attention deficit disorder, is described as a “freak,” and is characterized by her eye patch, which in itself shows her commitment to the game – she gambled her eye and lost it.

Mongillo has also starred in Working’ Moms, Backstage, Glass Houses, and Long Shot.

Suki: Ryan Sutherland

Ryan Sutherland is Suki, St. Dominic’s resident influencer, who is b*tchy as they come and keeps all of the students updated on school drama. As Ryan tells Yumeko, Suki is the “harbinger of doom.”

Funnily enough, Sutherland is an influencer in real life, specializing in comedy skits on his YouTube channel RYANcomedy. He’s also starred in Four Singles.

Riri: Anwen O’Driscoll

Anwen O’Driscoll takes on fellow Super Council member Riri, who is said to be like if “Bane and the Terminator had a baby.” She’s always wearing a mask and is a girl of few words.

Alongside the Netflix show, O’Driscoll’s roles include American Gods, October Faction, Burden of Truth, and You Can Live Forever.

Runa: Laura Afelskie

Laura Afelskie joins the Bet cast as Runa, the school’s residential loan shark – in a literal sense (she handles the betting club’s loans and she wears a shark onesie).

This isn’t the first time she’s appeared in a Netflix TV show, as Afelskie played Jess Brewster in Painkiller. She’s also had roles in The Daughter I Gave Away, Darkest Miriam, and In the Dark.

Chad: Dorian Giordano

Dorian Giordano plays Chad, a St. Dominic’s resident who is tight with the students and doesn’t take life too seriously.

Giordano has many acting credits to his name, including Reacher, Paranormal 911, Lockdown, Thanksgiving, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Blake: Emma Elle Paterson

Last but definitely not least is Blake, a fellow student, Yumeko’s roommate, and a clarinet player (although she could definitely do with some more practice).

Blake is played by Emma Elle Paterson, who’s enjoyed roles in The Apprentice, X-Men: Apocalypse, If I Go Missing, and District 31.
