Comedian Jay Renshaw has appeared on some of the biggest TV shows, but his latest character, Chit, may be the biggest he’s played yet, seeing how viral he’s become on TikTok.
Renshaw is part of the Groundlings Theatre & School and has played in some of the most popular shows ever, including Curb Your Enthusiasm and Criminal Minds.
But, Chit, a character he plays in a series of sketches that are posted across social media, may be the biggest character he’s played yet.

Jay Renshaw goes viral as Chit
At the time of writing, Renshaw has amassed over 1.1M followers on TikTok alone, with one of his most viral videos reaching nearly 25M views.
In it, Chit walks into an office and seemingly asks, “Is there a black person here?” which sparks quite a reaction from another actor. However, after a bit of back and forth, they quickly realize Chit was asking if there was a black purse in the room after he finds it and walks away.
Alongside Renshaw’s character, Chit, are actors Lyric Lewis and Kiel Kennedy.
It’s not the only character Renshaw plays, however, as in one video, they introduced Chit’s brother, Macky, who works in the IT department of their office.
Overall, with just 17 videos uploaded to the account, Renshaw has amassed nearly 100M views across everything shared so far. On top of that, it’s clear fans are dying to see more.

Chit is just the latest trend to take off across TikTok. Back in May, users went viral by using AI to turn their favorite podcast hosts like Theo Von and Joe Rogan into babies.
