What’s changing in Vietnam and where is it headed? How is Vietnam reacting to US tariffs and global realignment?

In this new live APDA session, Bruce Crompton (Co‑Founder, Crompton Manufacturing Consultants Vietnam (CMCV)), will share his unique perspective on the Vietnam manufacturing ecosystem, the response to the constantly evolving US tariffs, and the country’s window of opportunity.

With the US threatening global trade with its volatile policies and use of tariffs as a geopolitical weapon, we are witnessing a dramatic acceleration of technology manufacturing trends, accelerating procurement and supply chain strategies envisioned in the aftermath of the pandemic. After the US announced tariffs on technology and raw materials imported to the US, hardware manufacturers have started to rethink investment priorities, adjusting to lower revenues and an increase in annual costs. Major large Chinese manufacturers have already shifted production to Vietnam as global technology brands have accelerated a “China+1” strategy, creating a sourcing trend in Southeast Asia that will continue to shape over the next five years.

How is Vietnam, specifically, going to navigate these troubled waters? This webinar will detail what Vietnam’s government is doing to attract manufacturing and boost its industrial strategy. Will Vietnam manage to be seen as a lower-risk, cost-competitive alternative to China, or purely as a diversification strategy in a China+Vietnam sourcing model? What are the strategic advantages and challenges of moving production to Vietnam? How is Vietnam adjusting to compliance and transparency requirements? These are some of the pressing questions that Bruce Crompton will address, providing an updated snapshot directly from the region.

Bruce Crompton began his career in Beijing in 1995 and went on to hold leadership roles in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Nanjing, working across sourcing, product design, production, and operational management. He relocated to Vietnam six years ago, where he served as General Manager of Operations at Hansong Technology Vietnam, leading factory setup, supplier development, and compliance initiatives in Bac Ninh. He is the co‑founder of Crompton Manufacturing Consultants Vietnam (CMCV), a Hanoi-based firm that provides hands-on support to international businesses operating in Southeast Asia and manufacturers in Vietnam.

As a veteran working with some of the largest manufacturing companies in Vietnam, Bruce Crompton is familiar with the latest supplier sourcing trends, factory audits, labor laws, and quality systems implementation in Vietnam. This webinar will also offer a unique opportunity to ask questions about the audio industry ecosystem in the region.
