How is Station 118 ever going to move on after Bobby’s tragic death? 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 17 has almost arrived, and we’re going to have to move forward.
Fingers crossed, the hardest part of watching this binge-worthy TV show is behind us. Bobby (aka Peter Krause) has officially left the show for good, after being killed off in a deadly virus outbreak in a science lab.
A fire prevented our trapped team members from leaving the lab, exposing them to the leaked virus. Chimey was the red herring set up to take the fall, but eventually it was Bobby who fell victim, saving Ravi, Hen, and Chimey in the process.
Episode 16 saw the station come together to give him a fitting send-off, each processing their grief in different ways. But what happens next? Only 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 17 can answer that.
9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 17 release date and time
9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 17, titled ‘Don’t Drink the Water,’ will air on May 8, 2025, on ABC at 8pm ET. We’re officially back on track after the two-week delay between Episodes 15 and 16.

An official runtime hasn’t been revealed yet, but we can expect Season 8 Episode 17 to clock in at around 45 minutes.

If any episode of 9-1-1 Season 8 is going to be significantly longer, it will be the season finale – which is Episode 18, for those not keeping up.

As you can see from the below trailer, Athena believes the best thing for the 118 is if Hen now takes over as captain, but Hen isn’t sure if she wants the responsibility.
As a whole, the team has to deal with a methane issue which means everyday items – including seemingly water – burst into flames in the blink of an eye.
When a block of flats goes up in smoke, the whole station is needed to try and save the day. They’re set to head into an “environmental disaster,” ending with an apparent power outage when overhead electrical lines get caught up in the blaze.
