The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 6 is set to be one of the most emotional installments of the show, so make sure you know exactly what time it drops on HBO and Max.
In last week’s episode of The Last of Us, Ellie’s mask finally slipped. After cornering Nora in Lakehill (in a basement full of spores), she refused to give up information about Abby’s whereabouts… so Ellie beat her with a pipe.
As she swung down, the episode cut to black, before flashing back to Joel waking Ellie up on a much earlier, more peaceful morning. That’s the set-up for Episode 6, focused entirely on Joel and Ellie between the end of Season 1 and the start of Season 2.
That means we could find out if Ellie knows about Joel’s lie, and we’ll get answers about Eugene.

What will happen in Episode 6?
The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 6 will explore Joel and Ellie’s relationship before the start of Season 2, as well as revealing what happened to Gail’s husband, Eugene.
That’s about all we know, apart from the episode appearing to adapt some iconic moments from the original game; for example, it looks like we’ll see Joel playing ‘Future Days’ for Ellie and their trip to the museum.
It’s directed by Neil Druckmann, the creator of The Last of Us. “[Episode 6] is really special because it really gets into the heart of what the show’s about with characters that we love so much… both fans of the show and fans of the games are going to be really moved [by it],” he told Variety:
Co-writer Halley Gross also said, “I think there is something incredibly special for [Episode 6]. I think six is a really beautiful story, and I’m really proud to have gotten to be a part of it.”
Also, this is the penultimate chapter of Season 2, with the finale set to air on May 25.
