TikTok video becomes most-watched clip despite not showing anything

Users have discovered a TikTok video with 3.6 billion views, making it the most-watched video on the platform, despite it showing just a black screen.
When it comes to the list of most-watched videos on TikTok, there’s quite a variety of content involved.
Leah Halton’s inverted lip sync is the fourth most watched video with 1.1 billion views, and Zach King’s Harry Potter-inspired Magic Ride tops the charts with 2.3 billion views on TikTok.
Zach King’s clip has held the title of most-watched for almost six years, but users have discovered a new video that finally removed it from its throne.
Users discover blank video with 3.6 billion views
TikTok user Lasi’s video was uploaded on June 7, 2023, and has continued to rack up views ever since then without actually showing anything. Instead, it’s just a few seconds of a black screen that, by default, automatically restarts at the beginning once it’s finished.
Due to it not showing anything, viewers unknowingly watch the video multiple times, causing the view count to skyrocket. As of writing, it’s amassed over 3.6 billion views. It’s far from the most-liked video, though, with only 1.1M likes at the time of writing, as well.
The video has gone viral on the app several times over the years, with the most recent being April 2025.
As people make their own videos talking about the highly viewed clip, users are flocking to the comments of Lasi’s account to share their thoughts about it.
“3.7b views for a black screen is crazy,” one user commented.
Another asked: “How do you do this?”
“Why does this have so many views?” a third user commented.
Of course, it could be completely possible that Lasi used their account to test a viewbotting program on their own, so it’s unclear whether or not the views are legit.
This comes just as President Trump signed yet another executive order postponing the TikTok ban by 75 days, making the new deadline June 18.
