This Henry line from Kingdom Come: Deliverance is so iconic, he’s constantly asked to say it

While Kingdom Come: Deliverance has become known for its huge medieval sandbox with tough survival mechanics and realistic combat, its memes have become one of the biggest things to come out of it. So much so that Henry’s actor, Tom McKay, is constantly asked to quote one iconic line.
Anyone uninitiated looking at the KCD subreddit or the Twitter/X replies will probably be left confused by everyone praising Jesus Christ, saying they’re hungry, or exclaiming that Henry has come to see us. Few games get quoted as much as Kingdom Come: Deliverance, with Skyrim being the only fair comparison that comes to mind.
Whenever Henry got hungry in the first game, he’d say, “I feel quite hungry.” This happened a lot, sometimes during really dramatic moments in the story, so it’s had a grip on the fandom (and Henry’s actor) ever since.
Henry’s actor is well aware of the memes
Tom McKay, who played Henry in both games, said he’s well aware of all the memes when speaking with Dexerto’s Fall Damage.
“Always people want me to say ‘I feel quite hungry,’ that’s the biggest line people want to hear,” he said. “Almost always they want me to say that I’m hungry, which is fine because I usually am.”
The developers were aware too, with “I’m feeling quite hungry” returning as a battle cry that Henry uses to intimidate his foes.
“Alongside the memes, there’s some amazing TikTok videos,” Tom continued. “That wasn’t really a thing when the first game came out. I wasn’t on any social media until the middle of last year, so all that side of it, that’s been really fun. I mean all the ones where he’s saying he’s feeling quite hungry, and anything to do with that always makes me laugh.”
It’s not just the players injecting their own humor in the games, as Warhorse Studios were heavily inspired by classic British comedy.
“They all reference Monty Python a lot in that studio,” he explained. “And a lot of like classic British comedy really, there’s a sort of real appetite for that in the Czech Republic. And like Red Dwarf, weirdly, it’s like massive there, which is an old show I love.
“So it was kind of really fun, and we were all going for it, but we were like, I have no idea if anyone’s gonna run with this or whether they’re just gonna find it completely weird.”
