Louis Theroux returns to the West Bank to spend time with Israeli religious-nationalist settlers in the new documentary The Settlers. If you’re in the US or outside the UK, there’s an easy way to watch it for free now.
While there are many new documentaries to stream this month, Theroux’s latest outing should be top of the watch list.
TikTokers may know him as the man behind the ‘jiggle jiggle’ track, but the British broadcaster has spent his life’s work making some of the best, most eye-opening documentaries in UK history.
Nearly 15 years ago, he visited the heart of one of the world’s most disputed territories for Ultra Zionists – and now he’s back with The Settlers, revisiting ultra-nationalist Jewish settlers in the wake of the new conflict.

Louis Theroux: The Settlers is available to stream on BBC iPlayer now. Although the streaming service is geo-blocked for those outside the UK, you can overcome this barrier by using a VPN.
All you need to do is set your VPN to a UK location, create or sign into your BBC iPlayer account, and hit the play button. You can use this same method to watch his 2011 documentary Ultra Zionists.
The one-hour film sees Theroux visiting Israeli religious-nationalist settlers, which are illegal under international law but have been protected by the army, the police, and the Israeli government.
“Since the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, in which 1,200 Israelis were killed, there has been an acceleration in the establishment of settlements, with settlers pursuing a campaign of violence against local Palestinian communities,” the synopsis reads.
“What was once a fringe movement has now won support at the highest levels of government, with their supporters holding key positions in the cabinet and able to influence not only the role the military plays but also the future of this conflict.”
The filmmaker meets a series of prominent figures, including Daniella Weiss, known as the “godmother” of the movement. He also spends time with Palestinians whose lives have been impacted by the settler communities.
“As the world focuses on Gaza, where at least 50,000 Palestinians are estimated to have been killed by Israeli forces since October 7, Louis discovers that the settlers are already making plans to move into that territory, too,” the description finishes.
