The Xuutbox is a Portable Magnetic Box That Brings the Studio Anywhere

The image is split into two sections. The left side shows a person placing a red and white sneaker into a lightbox for photography. The right side depicts three people setting up a photography session with lighting equipment, discussing angles and setup.

HAD Design Studio announced the Xuutbox, what it claims is the first portable studio solution that allows for the high-end photos and videos anywhere thanks to a collapsible, magnetic box with interchangeable sides.

Billed as a “revolutionary portable studio solution,” The Xuutbox is an all-in-one compact studio solution that combines a light box, diffuser system, and color gels to create a customizable system with interchangeable walls, backgrounds, and base that allows for control over every angle of a subject. The whole system relies on a magnetic frame so swapping out sides is easy but when in use, they remain firmly in place.

The box itself is made out of aluminum and holds a magnetic strip that slides through the middle, giving a host of attachments the ability to connect to basically anywhere on the Xuutbox. HAD Design Studio says that one of the standout features of the Xuutbox is the magnetic clamp system which allows any material to be turned into a background, wall, or filter. That means any side of the Xuutbox can be customized to fit a particular creative vision.

“Our goal with Xuttbox Studio is to put in the hands of creators a powerful easy-to-use tool that allows anyone to achieve professional-level results with simple and unlimited configurations,” Jorge M., the CEO, Industrial Designer, and Xuutbox Studio creator at HAD Design says. “The world is moving fast and there is an increasing demand for content consumption. XUUTBOX Studio makes the creation of visual content accessible, in simple steps and with limitless possibilities.”

It’s not just clamped materials that can be attached to the frame. HAD Design showcases lighting modifiers, such as strobes and gobos, as well as a custom-designed laser that illuminates a spot on the base of the box so that turn-and-burn style product photos are always positioned in the exact same spot.

HAD Design Studio is offering the Xuutbox in a variety of configurations through Kickstarter for as low as about $489, which is a 30% discount over what the company eventually intends to retail the system for. The company says that it intends to start full production in July and will be able to ship to backers by October.
