We’re officially a week away from The Pitt‘s Season 1 finale, and it’s sure to be explosive. If you’re worried about it being a dud, don’t be – one of its stars has promised something “satisfying.”
Let’s face it: it’s pretty hard to imagine Max’s binge-worthy TV show fumbling the bag after 14 exceptional episodes. Already turning the medical drama trope on its head by exploring the same shift in detail over one season, the tension hasn’t broken for a second.
Fans follow 10 main characters over the course of each episode, all entangled in one another’s storylines. From Cass’ criminal past to Robby’s struggle with grief, there’s much more baggage than meets the eye in the trauma room.
The Pitt Season 1 finale is only a few days away, and what happens next in the new TV show is anybody’s guess. But according to one star, it’s going to be a “satisfying” end.
The Pitt’s Gerran Howell confirms Season 1 finale will be “satisfying”
Speaking to Dexerto, actor Gerran Howell – who plays med student Dennis Whitaker on the show – confirmed fans can expect “satisfying closure” in the hour-long Season 1 finale.
“I think they can expect some satisfying closure,” he explained. “I think every shift has to come to an end. We’re with 10 characters throughout this whole thing, and somehow the writers have managed to give us all a satisfying end and a story arc. So I think it’s very well done. I think people will be happy, and hopefully again, not too traumatized.”
Episode 14 showed the devastating mass shooting storyline calming down, but the aftermath is bound to spill over into the season finale.
“It became very apparent just how harrowing a situation like that would be,” Howell says of the finale storyline. “And there’s like a real point of trying to make the set really immersive at all times. All of our background actors are with us the whole shoot, and you look in the background, something is happening all the time. So when that mass casualty incident comes in. It just upped it to 11, and it was horrific. It was really like stepping onto a horror film.”
HBOComing into the med student program with very little confidence, Dennis has already proved himself by the end of his shift. The only person to be able to coax Robby out of his panic attack, there already seems to be a newfound sense of self. But what comes next?
“I think this has been really overwhelming for him, this whole shift. It’s been the shift from hell. I think it would take a lot of grit to come back, to voluntarily come back into this. But I think he’s given him a lot of satisfaction, and I think he’s really proven to himself he can do it, and that he’s useful. It’s only one shift, but I think he has, I’d like to think He’s found his place here a bit in the emergency department.
“I’m sure there’s some bodily fluids that haven’t been thrown on Whitaker yet,” Howell continued. “I’m sure there’s more of that to come. Apart from that, I just wish Whitaker all the best. I’m very intrigued to see where he goes. Maybe a bit of time has passed.”
