The Pitt Season 2 already has “surprise in store” for one unsuspecting character

Now the Season 1 finale has wrapped up, new information about The Pitt Season 2 is coming thick and fast. So fast, in fact, you might have missed creators tease a “surprise in store” for someone.

Let’s go over some of the burning questions we now have about our stressed-out ER medics. Charge nurse Dana might not be coming back at all, with Langdon’s career and reputation on the line after being caught with medical supplies in his locker.

Santos and Whitaker are now officially roommates, Collins is nowhere to be seen after her miscarriage, and Abbott was revealed to be an amputee in the final twist nobody expected.

We know Season 2 is going to pick up over the Fourth of July weekend 10 months after Season 1, but so far, other details are unknown. Except for one… a “surprise” is waiting in store for one of our 10 main medics.

The Pitt producers tease Season 2 “surprise” for Abbott

Speaking to TV Line, producer R. Scott Gemmill mentioned Abbott is expected to get a “surprise” in new episodes of The Pitt Season 2.

“Abbot loves the night shift, so he’s not going to work a day shift if he doesn’t want to, but we have a surprise for him next season,” he explained.

“We’re going to introduce a couple of new characters, as well, because there are always new people coming in and out of the hospital. So that will give us some new dynamics as well.”

What this surprise might entail remains to be seen, but if star and executive producer Noah Wyle’s comments are anything to go by, it could be something more personal.

“It’s one of the many that we’ve been asking ourselves,” Wyle says about including personal lives. “It’s really nice to earn a peek into these personal lives, but it’s a slippery slope before suddenly that becomes the cart before the horse, and we never want it to be that. We think those moments are so much better earned when they come few and far between, and when they really feel grounded.

“So, if anything, this year we’re trying to stay ultra disciplined to the model we’ve constructed, and resist the temptation to get a little arty with it – or, you know, just to mess with it.

“The response that we’ve been getting from the medical community – this sense of identification that they feel with these characters – has been so wonderful that I think if we just ask where would they be now, and answer that thoughtfully, and honestly, and organically, we’ll be right where we want to be.”

If you noticed, our medics only got as far as just outside of the ER in the Season 1 finale, meaning we never saw any of them actually head home after their shift. Could Abbott’s incoming “surprise” be waiting for him at home? We’ve also learned he has an amputated leg, which still needs some answers.
