The Last of Us Episode 3 dropped a big clue about Dina and you missed it

The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 3 sneaked in a big clue about what’s going on with Dina, and if you haven’t played the games, you may have missed it.

In the newest episode of The Last of Us, Ellie and Dina set off to Seattle to find Abby and the rest of her group from the WLF.

After a quick stop at Joel’s grave, they begin their long journey to the city. Along the way, they stumble on some dead bodies – including a young girl – and it becomes clear that it’s the same Seraphites we saw earlier in the episode.

It’s enough to make Dina vomit, and even Ellie is taken aback by the sight of the corpses – especially the father and daughter. However, fans of the game may have picked up on something else – spoilers to follow, obviously.

The Last of Us Episode 3 just sneakily revealed Dina’s secret

There’s another reason Dina may have been sick: in the game, she’s pregnant.

Think about it: Ellie and Dina have seen all sorts of grotesque things while they’ve been out on patrol. In the first episode, they found a disemboweled bear and the remains of several infected, and they’re fearless whenever they’re out and about.

Are you really telling me that Dina hasn’t seen a dead body before? Has she never smelled rotten flesh? Of course, seeing a young girl dead in the woods would be upsetting, but would it be enough to leave someone like Dina – a combat-trained and savvy young woman who’s grown up in a dangerous, death-ridden country – nauseous?

She even says to Ellie, “I’m sorry. That’s never happened before. I think it was the smell.” Dina also seems particularly troubled by the idea of Abby (or anyone) hurting kids.

If the show follows The Last of Us Part 2, Ellie will find out that Dina is pregnant by the end of Season 2. This shouldn’t surprise you, but Jesse is the father. As for how that will affect her relationship with Ellie and the events of the second season, that remains to be seen.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Isabela Merced (who plays Dina) teased: “I think there is a darker side Dina. That humor is sort of masking a darker side of her that eventually will be revealed and shared in moments of vulnerability with Ellie,” she said.

:But, you know, you have to build that relationship. Yes, they’re besties, but it is also the first time the audience is seeing it, so you have to be careful. A lot of who Dina is relies on how Ellie is and how they are together. There’s a Dina, there’s an Ellie, and there’s Dellie.”

Until next week, read more about Abby’s fate in The Last of Us games, what you need to know about the WLF, and why Eugene is so important in Season 2.
