Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a best-selling game again amid resurgence

Somehow, Battlefront 2 returned! Eight years on from its release, EA’s shooter is once again a best-selling game, becoming the 12th highest-grossing title in America throughout May.

When the critically acclaimed Andor Season 2 drew to a close back in May, it left a portion of the Star Wars community wanting more. As such, thousands returned to Star Wars Battlefront 2 to immerse themselves in the action.

Back then, the rebellion was only just beginning. The game reached just shy of 8,000 concurrent players on Steam. But it wasn’t long before Battlefront 2 made a real splash. By May 24, it soared past its previous all-time player record, and on June 22, it set yet another peak as 35,892 concurrents jumped in on PC alone. For a brief moment, it was the talk of the industry.

Now, new data has confirmed the resurgence in popularity wasn’t exclusive to PC. Across all platforms, Battlefront 2 has been enjoying a shock revival, making it one of the best-selling games of May, 2025.

Battlefront 2 has remained one of the top-sellers across all platforms.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 becomes a best-seller yet again

According to Circana data obtained by IGN, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was the 12th best-selling game in the United States throughout May, 2025. For comparison, it was all the way down as the 135th best-selling title in April, 2025.

While we don’t have specific sales figures, this places it ahead of new releases like EA’s own F1 25, which debuted on the charts as the 15th best-seller in May.

This is especially significant as the data pertains to pure dollar sales. Given Battlefront 2 has been heavily discounted throughout its resurgence, compared to full-price new releases, it makes the feat all the more impressive.

Circana data for the month of May obviously doesn’t paint the full picture of the game’s comeback. The Star Wars shooter reached the 21st spot on Steam’s best-seller list at the tail end of June amid its peak in popularity on the platform. It’s now been on the best-selling list for nine weeks straight.

Furthermore, Battlefront 2 still holds a spot on the first page of best-sellers across both the PlayStation and Xbox storefronts. Maintaining a player count north of 20,000 concurrents per day on Steam, it’s clear many are sticking with the game amid its big return.
