Sound Particles inDelay Plugin Allows Total Spatial Control
Sound Particles has just released a new delay effects plugin with features never seen before, creating a completely new sound design concept thanks to its fully integrated 3D Particles System. As Sound Particles did with its groundbreaking hyperrealistic Doppler effects tool, the new inDelay plugin makes using delays creatively better, quicker and easier, while allowing playing up to 100 delays at the same time.
Â
After the release of the much-acclaimed spatial synthesizer SkyDust in April 2023, and with products like Energy Panner and Density now being a staple of major music productions, Sound Particles reinforced its contribution to the music industry with a new unique creative plugin.
inDelay is powered by the legendary 3D audio engine from Sound Particles and adds new dimensions to how musicians, producers and sound designers are able to approach delays – literally and figuratively. With a click, users are able to add Air simulation to create more realism or go under the hood and customize independent channel sources for each of the 16 taps available.Â
With support for all major output formats from Stereo to Ambisonics or Dolby Atmos, inDelay will also open new doors to new artistic possibilities. As Nuno Fonseca, founder and CEO of Sound Particles, explains: “A delay is one of the most used plugins by sound professionals, so we had to create something that could fit this daily need, but keep pushing the boundaries of creative expressiveness. So we decided to create our modern take on a classic delay, with plenty of new features never done before inside a delay. We’re sure that it will captivate a lot of musicians and sound designers and that they’ll find tons of inspiration on inDelay.”
Â
The new Sound Particles inDelay plugin is based on the company’s unique Dynamic Particles System, basically a 3D sound engine with a virtually unlimited number of sound sources that can be rendered at any point in space, already loved by Hollywood for the biggest blockbusters. That same engine is now able to run up to 100 delays simultaneously with precise spatial rendering. This allows mixers to add life to any type of content and music production by adding movement to delays – without affecting the position of the sources themselves.
Based on an intuitive Time Editor, users can click and drag to effortlessly change multiple parameters with a single click, and shape upcoming delays while keeping an eye on the past and present delays. Air Simulation allows the most natural sounding delays with air absorption, a feature that simulates the depth and distance of each delay particle, while Soundscape Mode creates an immersive experience.
For Spatial Audio mixes, inDelay provides maximum spatial control in space, by positioning delays precisely where intended  in the room. And for more creative options, the plugin features random presets to generate unusual effects with a click of a button, or achieve astounding delay transformations with only one knob, turning any mix into a rich delay or lush reverb with a single twist.
Â
In total, the new Sound Particles inDelay plugin supports over 30 output formats, from mono to stereo, 5.1, High Order Ambisonics, Sony 360 or Dolby Atmos.
