Sonic gives advice for Shrek after viral Shrek 5 redesign causes chaos

Sonic the Hedgehog has chimed in to give advice after Shrek’s design in the upcoming Shrek 5 movie was slammed by fans.
Shrek is getting its fifth instalment after sixteen years, and while it’s still a while before it releases, fans are already able to take a closer look thanks to a teaser that just dropped.
In the brief snippet, Shrek is seen with his family talking to the Magic Mirror, which shows all the different versions of him in a TikTok-like style. It’s hilarious, but one thing immediately drew attention among fans: the animation style.
Shortly after the teaser was released, fans all over social media criticized the new look, which is distinct from the old one, and some even compared it to Sonic’s infamous design. Now, the latter has chimed in to share some friendly advice.
Sonic the Hedgehog pokes fun at Shrek’s design in upcoming sequel
As seen on TikTok, the official clip started with footage of Sonic’s original design, with the text “For any green ogres looking for advice,” on top of it.
This is the design that was slammed by fans when the Sonic movie was first revealed. Many pointed out that the iconic hedgehog looked off with human teeth and appeared almost too realistic, to the point that it was dubbed “Ugly Sonic.”
After a brief transition, the clip then showed Sonic’s final design, which has a more stylized look to it. It’s safe to say that Shrek is going through the same thing the original Sonic did back when his design was heavily criticized.
Fans have pointed out that the new animation looks off and doesn’t exactly have the same feeling as the older Shrek films. Another fan even pointed out that it looks like a “generic” 2025 animation. To add to this, some people have also gone all out to try to ‘fix’ the design.
Either way, many fans have hoped the style would be changed to resemble the original Shrek.
