Shokz Unveils OpenDots ONE Clip-On Open-Ears

Shokz, the pioneer in bone conduction headsets that gradually is expanding its portfolio towards open-ear air conduction technology, announced the OpenDots ONE, a new design and form factor for the brand. These are clip-on earbuds with a design somewhere in between the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds and the Huawei FreeClip, but using Shokz’s own air conduction approach, based on what it calls Bassphere technology, combining two facing dynamic drivers into a spherical module.
Leveraging Shokz’s signature open-ear experience in a completely new direction, the company designed a clip-on product that delivers higher quality audio than any other product on its portfolio, while allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings. Other clip-on earbuds currently available have demonstrated being extremely capable in terms of audio reproduction due to the acoustics module seating already inside the ear, very close to the ear canal. In the OpenDots ONE, Shokz tried to improve on the formula with a new transducer design arrangement.
The Shokz approach was dubbed Bassphere Technology and combines dual 11.8mm drivers in a spherical module to replicate the performance of a 16mm driver. This allows the OpenDots ONE to deliver punchy, dynamic bass and crisp highs, with the two facing circular drivers also helping to minimize sound leakage with what the company calls DirectPitch Technology. The open-ear listening quality was considered good enough to make the OpenDots ONE as Shokz’ first product with Dolby Audio. According to the user guide, “Dolby Audio enhances the sound experience, making it more realistic and immersive,” and is on by default.
DirectPitch technology uses the principle of phase cancellation to cancel out unwanted sound spillage. By incorporating multiple vents in the earbud design, DirectPitch cancels sound and pressure in directions angled away from the ear canal. This amplifies sound pressure directed toward the ear canal, reducing sound leakage and enabling immersive open-ear listening while maintaining privacy.

“The introduction of OpenDots ONE represents an exciting evolution for Shokz,” says Roger Zhang, Head of Product Innovation at Shokz. “As our community has grown, we’ve seen more people using Shokz throughout everyday lives — from the gym to the office and everywhere in between. We’re committed to developing products that support this expanding lifestyle segment, and OpenDots ONE was designed for those moments.”
OpenDots ONE introduces Shokz’s first-ever clip-on design. At just 0.23 oz (6.5g) per earbud and 52g with the case, the design delivers all-day comfort in a barely-there form. The flexible nickel-titanium JointArc provides a gentle yet secure grip on various ear shapes. Soft silicone strategically placed on the exterior of the speaker further minimizes pressure, even during extended wear.

With up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge and up to 40 hours with the case that supports wireless charging, the OpenDots ONE are built for all-day use. IP54 water resistance provides protection from light rain and sweat, and Dynamic Ear Detection allows the symmetric earbuds to automatically recognize which bud is in which ear — no left or right markers needed. The Intuitive Touch Controls let users effortlessly manage music and calls by tapping the battery compartment or JointArc, or by ‘pinching’ the battery with two fingers —providing a truly hassle-free experience.
Users can also tailor their experience through the Shokz App, which enables multipoint pairing between two devices, 4 preset EQ modes plus two personalized EQ, Find My Earbuds, and more. The Shokz OpenDots ONE are available now in two colorways — Black and Grey — for $199.95.
