Save on Mario sports games with Nintendo’s Play Together sale

For the first time since 2007, there is no Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. The pair of video game icons and their ragtag teams have been competing against one another since the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, with more titles released alongside the 2012 games in London, 2016 in Rio, and 2020 in Tokyo. Alas, there is no Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for Paris.

That doesn’t mean you can’t still pit your preferred polygonal plumber against friend and frenemy alike! Now through Aug. 11, Nintendo is having a “Play Together” sale with heavy discounts across several dozen multiplayer Switch titles, including more than a dozen first-party Nintendo games that show a more competitive, athletic side to Nintendo’s mascots at more than 30% off each.

If you’re feeling less sports-inclined, you can save big on other multiplayer titles including Monster Hunter Rise and Sunbreak Deluxe for $24.99 (was $69.99), Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes for $41.99 (was $59.99), and Trombone Champ for $8.24 (was $14.99), where even the worse performances are often the most entertaining. Oh, and there’s also Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 for $23.99 (was $59.99), in case you really want to revisit the last time these two powerhouses competed for medals.

Nintendo’s Play Together sale is available not just through its own online store but also several retailers including Best Buy, Target, and Humble. Here are some of our favorite deals as part of this event.
