Saramonic K9 sets new standard for UHF audio

Saramonic has just revealed the K9, and not the Dr Who robotic dog, at NAB 2025 in Las Vegas. Thi new wireless microphone system is aimed at professional filmmakers, broadcast engineers, and sound pros. The K9 is a dual-channel digital UHF system that combines wide-spectrum frequency flexibility with high-fidelity sound capture and next-gen recording tech.

Our review of the units is complete and will be posted on the 8th of April – before that goes live if you have any questions please pop me a direct message.

Among its standout features is 32-bit float onboard recording with built-in 32 GB storage, a first for Saramonic’s UHF lineup. This enables you to capture distortion-free audio with a huge dynamic range—even in uncontrolled environments. Crucially, the system includes wired and wireless timecode synchronisation, enabling frame-accurate AV alignment without requiring additional hardware, a huge assest for complex multi-camera or multi-mic setups.

Engineered for global use, the K9 supports a broad UHF spectrum from 550 to 960 MHz. Its GPS-based frequency update system ensures legal and reliable operation in virtually any country, while smart auto-scanning helps find clean channels in crowded RF zones. Depending on region, the unit is available in two variants: a global version with full functionality and a US version that, due to patent restrictions, limits simultaneous use of wireless transmission and onboard recording—though both features are still available separately.

In terms of design, the K9 brings usability enhancements like dual displays on the receiver (including a top-mounted screen for bag users), IP67-rated 3mm lavalier mics, and up to 9 hours of battery life. The system is app-controlled, supporting up to 48 devices for remote management of gain, monitoring, and firmware updates.
