Samsung has unveiled the SSD 9100 PRO, its latest high-performance solid-state drive designed for AI applications, gaming, and intensive workloads. With PCIe 5.0 support and cutting-edge V-NAND technology, this SSD offers an impressive leap in speed and efficiency, making it one of the fastest consumer SSDs available.
At the heart of the 9100 PRO is Samsung’s Presto controller, which helps deliver sequential read and write speeds of up to 14,800MB/s and 13,400MB/s, respectively. That’s twice as fast as the previous 990 PRO series, offering a major upgrade for users working with large AI models, 8K video editing, and high-end gaming. The random read and write speeds are equally impressive, reaching 2,200K and 2,600K IOPS, ensuring smooth multitasking and faster load times in professional applications.
Designed for the next generation of AI-powered computing, the Samsung 9100 PRO is built to handle the increasing demand for storage in on-device AI. AI models, particularly those used in generative AI applications, require faster storage to load large datasets quickly. Samsung claims that the 9100 PRO can reduce AI model load times by half compared to previous SSD generations, making it an essential upgrade for AI PCs, Copilot+ devices, and gaming rigs.
In addition to speed, the Samsung 9100 PRO series is available in storage capacities up to 8TB, ensuring users never run out of space for their game libraries, AI-generated content, or massive video projects. The Intelligent TurboWrite 2.0 technology further enhances performance by dynamically managing the SLC buffer region.
Despite its high-speed capabilities, the 9100 PRO remains power-efficient. With a 5nm process controller, it achieves 49% better power efficiency than the 990 PRO, even with a slight increase in power consumption. Samsung has also introduced a Heatsink model for optimal thermal management, making the SSD suitable for both desktop PCs and PlayStation 5.
