Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, the slimmest phone ever in its S-series lineup. Designed for users who value sleek aesthetics without sacrificing flagship performance, the Galaxy S25 Edge combines a remarkably thin profile with high-end features borrowed from its more robust siblings.
Measuring just 5.8mm thick and weighing only 163g, the Galaxy S25 Edge is significantly thinner than both the standard Galaxy S25 (7.2mm) and the S25 Ultra (8.2mm, 218g). This ultra-thin form factor is central to the Edge’s appeal, with Samsung calling it the result of “precise design intentions” fused with powerful internals.
To achieve such a slim design, Samsung made a few notable trade-offs—especially in the camera and battery departments. Unlike the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the S25 Edge omits a dedicated telephoto lens. Instead, it sports a dual-camera setup on the back: a 200MP main camera with a Type 1/1.3 sensor (9.8 x 7.3mm), F1.7 aperture, and support for 2x and 10x zoom via in-sensor cropping. While the 2x zoom uses native sensor data, the 10x zoom relies on AI upscaling. The secondary camera is a 12MP ultra-wide lens with an F2.2 aperture that also supports macro photography. A standard selfie camera rounds out the setup.
Another compromise is battery life. The S25 Edge houses the smallest battery in the S25 series—a natural consequence of its thin design. Samsung has not provided specific battery life estimates, suggesting that those who prioritize endurance may prefer the thicker Galaxy S25 or S25 Ultra.
Despite these limitations, the S25 Edge is no slouch in performance. It is powered by the same custom Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset found in the S25 Ultra, ensuring top-tier speed and efficiency. Additionally, it debuts Corning’s new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which promises superior durability and visual clarity, protecting the display without compromising thinness.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is available for pre-order now through Samsung, Amazon, Best Buy, and major carriers. General sales begin May 30. The phone starts at $1,100 for the 256GB model and $1,220 for the 512GB version, offering users a sleek, premium option in the S-series ecosystem.
