Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could get a massive camera upgrade

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is supposedly coming in January, and according to a new rumor from China today, it might bring with it a massive camera upgrade.

Namely, the main sensor is said to be Sony’s upcoming 1/1.1″ type with 200 MP resolution, the Japanese company’s first with so many pixels.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra uses the Samsung ISOCELL HP2, which has 200 MP resolution too, but is smaller at 1/1.3″. The bigger size of the Sony sensor will let in more light, which should result in much-improved shots.

The only asterisk here is that there’s a chance Samsung will push the use of this Sony sensor to the Galaxy S27 Ultra in 2027. Hopefully the S26 Ultra will see it, but it doesn’t seem to be a given according to the source of this rumor.
