Rogue monster truck wheel destroys cars in parking lot after event goes awry

A monster truck event at a fairgrounds in Washington state went awry after a wheel came off one of the trucks and smashed multiple attendees’ cars.

Over the weekend of July 19, the Kitsap County Fairgrounds in Bremerton, Washington, held a monster truck event for fans to check out.

It was called the Malicious Monster Truck Tour and featured 13 of the big-wheeled vehicles, and largely went off without a hitch.

But on Monday, July 21, a video went viral on social media showing a wheel fly off one of the trucks and smash multiple cars in the process.

Monster Truck wheel smashes cars in the parking lot

A video, posted by PhotogSteve81 on Instagram, shows the monster truck taking a jump before experiencing a hard landing seconds later. As it hit the ground, the front driver’s side wheel flew off, straight over the barrier and into the parking lot.

“Multiple vehicles were destroyed today at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds during a monster truck show. Thankfully, no injuries were reported,” he said. The video made its way over to Reddit as well, where people reacted to the incident.

“Crowd went from ‘YEEEEAH’ to silent prayer real quick,” one user commented.

Another said: “Can you imagine having to call the insurance on this? ‘Uh huh, and you say the monster truck tire sailed through the air hundreds of feet and landed on your car? Yeah, I’m not going to approve that claim.’”

“Yikes, could’ve ended so much worse. What if it flew towards the crowd or if there were people in the parking lot?” a third user asked.

While it’s unknown how big the tire was in the viral truck incident, Monster Jam says the BKT tires they run on trucks are 66 inches in diameter and 43 inches wide, and with the wheel, weigh 645 pounds each.
