Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 in India are up 40% compared to the previous gen

Pre-orders for Samsung’s 6th gen foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and the Z Flip6, kicked off on July 10 in India and now, a week later, they are already shaping up to be the most popular generation yet.

Pre-orders for the two models are up 40% compared to their predecessors. There’s one more week of pre-orders before open sales begin and we will probably have to wait for the quarterly report to get more detailed numbers on the Z series sales. It depends on how the Z phones do in other regions, of course, but they might top Samsung’s modest goal of 10% increased sales.

The Z Fold6 starts at ₹165,000 (12/256GB) and the Z Flip6 at ₹110,000 (12/256GB). Both will launch on July 26. If you pre-order one, you can get a cashback of ₹8,000 on HDFC Bank cards or an upgrade bonus of ₹8,000 (this goes up to ₹15,000 for current owners of a Samsung flagship).

The Z foldables are not cheap, but they are built to last – Samsung promises 7 years of software support. Also, if you pre-order, you will get the Galaxy Z Assurance, which offers two screen/parts replacements at just ₹1,000 (usually, you get one screen replacement).

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 units that are sold in India are built locally in Samsung’s factory in Noida.

“We are delighted with the consumer response for our new foldables – Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 in India. The 1.4x growth in pre-orders for the new foldable smartphones shows that Indian consumers are among the fastest adopters of new technology. Our new foldable smartphones, now in their sixth generation, open the next chapter of Galaxy Al and elevate the user experience to new heights, enabling a range of unique mobile experiences across communications, productivity and creativity. The success of Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 will help us consolidate our premium segment leadership in India,” said Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President, MX Business, Samsung India.
