Pokemon TCG Pocket Triumphant Light: Release date, cards, Ranked Battles, more

Pokemon TCG’s next update will be called Triumphant Light. Here’s everything we know so far including the cards, release date, and more.
The leaks were real and Triumphant Light will indeed be the next expansion of Pokemon TCG Pocket – and so soon after the last one. This time, the focus is off Palkia and Dialga and switches to their creator, the Almighty Arceus.
The expansion was revealed during the Pokemon Day Presentation alongside the Pokemon Legends Z-A reveal and the announcement of the Black and White remakes. Here’s a breakdown of everything we know so far about the Triumphant Light pack.
Triumphant Light release date
The Triumphant Light expansion will be released on February 28, 2028 on the game’s daily reset at 6 am UTC.
This translates to the following times depending on where you live:
February 27
February 28
- 3pm JST
- 1am ET
- 3am BRT
- 6am GMT
These times are based on when past expansions like Space-Time Smackdown and Mythical Island were released and could be subject to change.
All cards
Here are all of the cards being added with Triumphant Light that have revealed so far, as shown at the Pokemon Presents held on February 27, 2025:
- Arceus EX
- Leafeon EX
- Garchomp EX
- Glaceon EX
- Abomasnow
- Carnivine
- Croagunk
- Crobat
- Heatram
- Magnezone
- Raichu
- Rotom
- Shaymin
- Tyranitar
- Unown
- Adaman
- Irida
This expansion will be on the smaller side, making it similar in size to Mythical Island and smaller than Space-Time Smackdown.
Arceus will be the main theme of this expansion, although his card didn’t go down well with players when it was leaked, being considered too weak for the supposed god of the Pokemon universe.
He will be joined by a selection of exciting EX cards, including Leafeon, Garchomp, and Glaceon, giving you plenty to look forward to. There’s also two more trainer cards confirmed, with Adaman and Irida from Legends Arceus making their way to Pocket TCG.
Ranked Battles
This expansion will also introduce Ranked Battles, giving players the chance to duel one another in a competitive setting.
The specifics on how Ranked Battles will work haven’t been confirmed quite yet, but a tiered system akin to what’s present in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet seems the most likely.
It’s also expected that you’ll be able to earn a range or rewards to taking part, with these rewards being better the higher your rank. This will be the main incentive for getting serious about your deck building and keeping on top of the meta to win as many games as possible.
