Pokemon TCG fans can now grab “Power Packs” with graded cards included

GameStop is now offering “Power Packs” that hand out PSA graded cards directly alongside Pokemon TCG booster packs, for a premium price.
The Pokemon TCG craze is hotter today than it ever has been. In fact, with scalpers running amok and prices constantly on the rise, it may be more of a trending hobby now than ever before.
Reacting to the surge in popularity, GameStop is looking to capitalize in a unique way. The video game store has been delving into the trading card space for a number of years now, and now, it’s looking to sweeten the pot with its own “Power Packs.”
While not an official product from The Pokemon Company, these GameStop exclusive bundles gives fans the opportunity to unpack various boosters while also guaranteeing a Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) graded card as well.
GameStop’s “Power Packs” guarantee graded Pokemon cards
Power Packs, which are now available in GameStop stores across North America, contain three randomized boosters packs along with a single graded card.
Power Packs are exclusive to the Pokemon TCG at this stage, but who knows when GameStop might expand into other communities.
First up, the boosters. These can be three separate boosters from three distinct sets, it’s entirely down to luck. So if you’re looking for a specific card, buying the right boosters will still be your best bet. But if you’re a collector just looking for anything valuable, this could be right for you.
The biggest draw is the graded card, which GameStop has guaranteed to be a PSA 8 grade or better. For real collectors out there, PSA 9 and PSA 10 is where the real value lies, but some PSA 8s of ultra-rare cards can still move the needle if you’re supremely lucky.
A single Power Pack will run you $59.99 USD total. Considering a single booster is typically priced at $4.99 USD, it’s obviously a steep increase. The allure is in the acquisition of a graded card without having to go through the often lengthy grading process, wherein you have to manually send off your cards and wait to hear back.
It’s worth noting, for Pokemon TCG fans eager to try their luck, Power Packs are not available online. GameStop has them for sale exclusively in-store.
