Pokemon Happy Meals returning at McDonald’s with an exclusive card

McDonald’s has just announced a new Happy Meals promotion that’ll allow fans to get an exclusive Pikachu card.

The Pokemon Company isn’t one to shy away from collabs when it comes to its famous TCG franchise. Over the years, they’ve launched various partnerships with different brands, ranging from PC and gaming peripherals to food, such as Hershey’s and McDonald’s.

Earlier this year, Pokemon cards made a comeback in McDonald’s Happy Meals, bringing Dragon-type mons for fans to collect.

Now, a similar promotion is coming back. This time, it’ll include an exclusive Pikachu promo card and reprints, all of which will only be available in Japan.

McDonald’s Japan announces limited-time Pokemon promo cards

This upcoming set of Happy Meal promo cards will be distributed in McDonald’s Japan, starting on August 9. However, it won’t be around for long, as it will only be available until August 11, 2025.

An all-new exclusive Pikachu promo card featuring artwork of the Electric-type Pokemon about to eat a burger will be one of the highlights during this promotion.

Fans will be able to snatch this particular Pikachu card and another promo card at random, whether that’s Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Ralts, or Riolu.

In this set, Pikachu is the only one with a new illustration, while all the others you get randomly are reprints from earlier sets.

Regardless, all of them have the same McDonald’s logo imprinted on the bottom right part of the artwork to signify their rarity.

In addition to these, the McDonalds Japan account on X has also revealed that there will be Pokemon toys available with the Happy Meals.

At the time of writing, it’s unknown whether these will make it to the West.

Limited merchandise and cards are known to attract scalpers, as they tend to be sold at steep prices online. The Van Gogh Museum merch is just one of many solid examples of this issue.
