Pokemon Go gives all players huge rewards following Timed Research fix

After Pokemon Go players reported an issue with a Timed Research quest, Niantic responded by giving everyone 11 free Legendary encounters.
Pokemon Go’s latest event, Road to Unova, started on February 24, 2025, and along with it came a raid-focused Timed Research quest.
It promised to offer 11 different Legendary Pokemon encounters as you completed raids, but fans quickly began to notice an issue with raids not counting towards the quest.
After many took to social media to voice their complaints, Niantic has responded with a fix that benefits its entire player base.
Pokemon Go just gave away 11 Legendary encounters
In a post on X, Niantic Support shared an update regarding the broken Timed Research tasks.
“Trainers, thanks for your patience,” they said. “We resolved the issue preventing Raids from progressing towards Raid-related Timed Research.
To make up for this, a free duplicate of the Road to Unova: Raids Timed Research will be granted to all Trainers globally. Trainers who purchase the Road to Unova: Raids ticket will also receive a free duplicate Road to Unova: Raids Premium Timed Research. These will both be automatically completed upon receipt.”
With the change, fans have access to 11 different Legendary encounters without having to win Raid Battles, and includes the ability to catch Terrakion, Cobalion, Virizion, Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, and all five variants of Genesect.
Fans flocked to the comments to share their appreciation, with many shocked that Niantic made the research automatically completed.
“I was so pleasantly confused when I saw all the completed raids this morning,” one user commented.
Another said: “I wasn’t going to do the raids, so this is a nice bonus!”
“W fix honestly. Free legendaries for all is pretty sweet,” a third replied.
This comes as fans have taken to social media to complain about Pokemon Go’s “greedy” Unova Tour Pass price and its “worthless” rewards.
