The Deeo Depths event is bringing Shiny Clauncher back to Pokemon Go along with the debut of both Nickit and its evolution, Thievul. Check out all the details so you don’t miss a beat.
The Might and Mastery season is adding more events to its already tight March schedule. This time, debuting Gen 8’s Nickit and its evolution, Thievul, as well as bringing back to Niantic’s game the elusive Shiny Clauncher.

Deep Depths event: Date & time
The Pokemon Go Deep Depths event will kick off on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM and will run until Monday, March 24, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time.
This means players will have almost a week to hunt Shiny Clauncher and register both Nickit and Thievul in their Pokedex.
Pokemon debuts
For the first time in Pokemon Go, players will have the chance to encounter in the wild Gen 8’s Nickit – the Fox Pokemon – and its Evolution, Thievul.
Shiny Pokemon
Although this is not its debut, as it appeared in the game back in 2023 during the Water Festival: Beach Week event, Shiny Clauncher can be spotted during the Deep Depths event.
The good news? Players will have increased odds of coming across one either in the wild or as a hatch from Eggs.
Those who manage to gather enough candy can evolve a Shiny Clauncher to obtain a Shiny Clawitzer!
Event bonuses
These are the bonuses players will be able to enjoy during the event days:
- 1/2 Egg hatch distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators during the event
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Clauncher in the wild or hatch it from Eggs
Wild encounters
Here are all the Pokemon that will spawn more frequently in the wild during the Deep Depths event in Pokemon Go:
- Murkrow*
- Sneasel*
- Crophish*
- Clamperl*
- Purrloin*
- Frillish (Female)*
- Clauncher*
- Nickit
Pokemon marked with an (*) can appear as Shiny.
Eggs
During the Deep Depths event, trainers can hatch the following creatures from 7km Eggs:
- Galarian Corsola*
- Pawniard*
- Clauncher*
- Nickit
Field Research Task Rewards
As usual, event-themed Field Research tasks will be available for players to complete, and those who manage to do it will earn extra encounters with event-themed Pokemon.
Timed Research
A free Timed Research opportunity will also be accessible for players, and the rewards for completing the tasks include:
- x10 Kubfu Candy
- x1 Mysterious Component
- Encounters with event-themed Pokemon
- x2 Stardust for catching Pokemon after completing the Timed Research
- And more!
Before the event ends on March 24, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time, players must complete all the challenges and claim every reward if they don’t want to lose them once they expire.
Paid Timed Research
Hardcore players can access an event-exclusive Timed Research for US$ 2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). Those who manage to complete it will get:
- x2 Super Incubator
- x1 Star Piece
- Encounters with Clauncher and Nickit
Trainers can also gift tickets to any of their friends. However, in order to do so, they must have achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher.
As with the free Timed Research, the tasks and rewards expire, so they must be completed and cashed in before March 24, 2025.
Collection Challenges
During the days Deep Depths is taking place, event-themed Collection Challenges will be available for all trainers.
Complete catch-and Evolution-focused Collection Challenges to receive XP, Stardust, and encounters with event-themed Pokemon.
PokeStop Showcases
As with most events, PokeStop Showcases will be taking place in different PokeStops, so search for them to enter event-themed competitions.
