Poco F7 Pro review – GSMArena.com tests

Introduction

A new generation of Poco F Pro is at our doorstep, iterating on a proven concept. The F7 Pro brings a powerful chipset, top-quality display, and a sizable battery, all at a relatively low price made possible by a more modest approach to cameras. There’s certainly a market for that.

The Poco F7 Pro runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset – last year’s top-shelf SoC from Qualcomm, as F Pros typically do. The F7 Ultra goes for the current best Snapdragon, so you get the option to step up a notch, but the Pro’s solution is plenty powerful and future-proof.

The 6.67-inch OLED display has pixels to spare – its QHD resolution is bordering on too much, but it’s been a staple of the series for a couple of generations already and there’s no going back. The 6,000mAh battery capacity, meanwhile, marks a rather significant 20% increase over the previous generation – one of those developments that we always enjoy.

Little has changed in the camera department, and we get that – the Ultra is there to cater to camera enthusiasts, while the Pro’s focus is elsewhere. It has the basics covered, thanks to a 50MP primary unit and an 8MP ultrawide on the back, and a slightly improved 20MP front-facing camera.

There are also at least a couple of less obvious but still notable generational changes. One of them is the upgraded dust and water sealing, now IP68-rated for dust tightness and submersion. The other is the switch from an optical to an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint reader – we’re inclined to agree and classify that too as an upgrade.

Poco F7 Pro unboxing

The F7 Pro ships in the familiar black and yellow cardboard packaging that’s characteristic of the brand. The accessories will likely vary from market to market, with the 90W power adapter that we received very likely missing from EU-bound boxes.

Adapter or no adapter, you should expect to get a USB-A-to-C cable to do your data transfers maybe or get started on charging with older adapters.

Also included is a graphite colored soft protective case – nothing fancy, but functional nonetheless.
