Pirate Software responds after Billy Mitchell says he “will be sued”

Twitch streamer Pirate Software responded after a tweet from Billy Mitchell named him directly, claiming he “will be sued.”

On July 5, Mitchell posted a short message on X/Twitter that simply read “Pirate Software will be sued.” Mitchell’s post provided no further context and did not specify who would be filing the lawsuit or why.

On the same day, while playing Dune: Awakening live on Twitch, a viewer brought Mitchell’s post to Pirate’s attention.

A blunt response to a vague accusation

Initially confused about the viewer’s claim, only seeing Mitchell’s posts about his line of hot sauces, the streamer, also known as Thor, eventually found the post in question.

Laughing upon discovering the post, Thor said “Oh, he’s just insane. Okay, no, he did actually talk about me.”

“I’ll just send it over to my legal team, whatever man. Okay bud, have fun with that sh*t,” Thor continued.

The post comes following huge controversy surrounding Pirate Software’s comments on the Stop Killing Games campaign, which Thor claimed led to him being swatted and receiving death threats. Whether Mitchell’s comments are related to the SKG or something else entirely isn’t clear.

Widely known for his disputed arcade records and a legal battle with Karl Jobst, Mitchell did not elaborate on the reason for his post. As of writing, no official legal action involving Pirate Software has been made public.
