Pilot turns down $500k from MrBeast after months trapped in isolation

MrBeast trapped a pilot in a private jet worth $2.5 million, using him to fly all around the country over the course of a challenge that trapped him in isolation for 100 days.

Over the course of the challenge, pilot Armando was given a number of lifelines and benefits to help make the 100 days a little easier. But that time trapped in the confines of the jet with no way to communicate with his family took its toll.

On day 90, MrBeast made the offer to give him $500k in exchange for staying another 100 days. In total, this would have amounted to 200 days almost completely cut off from the outside world.

And, though Armando did win the private jet, it’s only worth $2.5 million on paper. It’s not like operating the jet is free.

Pilot may have to sell jet after declining MrBeast offer

Armando spent some time crunching numbers in the video, with the pilot being concerned about just how feasible it is to pay the cost of keeping his jet if he actually won the challenge.

In short, he figured out it wouldn’t be cheap.

To keep the jet for the long-term and achieve his dream of flying around the world with his family, Armando would have to win a ton of money by taking the alternative challenges in the video.

And, while he won $50k by declining access to a shower for the 100 days, he sacrificed that $50k later to get an outdoor gym space and get some fresh air. He also turned down a Lamborghini in exchange for a bed, sinking further into the funds he could have earned by perhaps selling the vehicle.

The only additional money he walked away with from this challenge was $50k for a Doordash-themed series of flights around the US.

In turning down the $500k, it’s very likely Armando will have to sell the jet. He knew that when declining the offer, but chose his family first regardless.

Armando got to see his family once during the challenge, but that was his only time with them

“Getting another half a million dollars for another hundred days, I could actually keep the jet for longer than a couple months and fly it to all the places I want to go,” he explained.

It isn’t yet clear if Armando sold the jet, but, going by his math, it’s very likely that he’ll have to do it sooner than later.

Additionally, while the jet is worth $2.5 million at market value, it likely won’t sell for the MSRP and will have to be negotiated down. On top of that, he’d have to find a place to keep it while the jet’s on the market.

During the duration of the challenge, Armando also flew Jimmy and his friends around the country while they were filming other videos. It’s yet unclear if he was paid independently of the challenge for his work, or if he went unpaid due to undergoing the challenge.
