Persona 5: The Phantom X bans naming yourself after certain Twitch streamers

Persona 5: The Phantom X allows players to name their own character, but with a massive set of unseen restrictions. And, though most of these cases ban terms, two names are barred from being selected on a case specific basis: Hasan Piker and Asmongold.
Phantom X brings the universe of Persona 5 into the gacha game fold, creating a twist on its turn-based game mechanics that allows for a new story to unfold in P5’s framework.
And, despite Persona 5 being almost a decade old at this point, people are still in love with its unique sense of style. So, it should come as no surprise that this gacha game has been incredibly popular from the get-go.
However, people naming their character have noticed some incredibly odd and case-specific bans on names they want to pick, to the point where players are just having fun discovering all the banned terms.
Persona 5: The Phantom X target bans 2 certain streamer names
In the case of most banned names in P5X, they’re banned via RegEx, which essentially means that the term is banned if it’s anywhere in the name. It doesn’t have to be case-specific.
For instance, players are unable to name themselves Brass or Bass because the core term of “ass” is banned due to RegEx association. The case doesn’t matter, just the term showing up as a sequence of letters.
The same is true of “Mr Beast” and “IShow Speed”, two names that are banned not because of the creator, but because “Beast” and “Speed” are banned terms in P5X for some reason. There are several generic words and terms that are banned in this manner, leaving some players scratching their heads from the moment they try to make their name.
However, two case-specific name bans stand out: “Asmon Gold” and “Hasan Piker”. People who want to name themselves Hasan have nothing to worry about here, as only “Hasan Piker” is banned.
Additionally, naming yourself “Gold Asmon” or putting the word “Asmon” in your name is completely fine. Specifically “Asmon Gold” is banned.
Other banned names of note are “Sigma”, “Stupei” (a Persona 3 reference), both “Game” and “Gaming”, “Chicken” (many players were disappointed they couldn’t name themselves Chicken Jockey), “Vegan”, “Mog”, and several iconic Family Guy names like “Peter Griffin” and “Stewie”. A tough day for Family Guy fans.
Despite some players requiring several attempts to get around the tight restrictions P5X has on naming, overall reception to the game has been positive, with it almost immediately hitting Mostly Positive reviews on Steam when it got released.
