Peak devs announce new content after selling millions of copies

Peak, a co-op climbing game that was developed in around four weeks, has become a massive success on Steam. The developers were planning to only do bug fixes after releasing it, but that plan quickly changed.
With a concurrent player count record of over 110k, Peak has cemented itself in the upper echelon of most played games of Steam just over a week after it came out. At a price of just $5 on release, it went completely viral as a fun co-op game to play with your friends.
It also has new islands that get generated every single day, creating a new challenge that players can participate in endlessly. But just because it’s endlessly replayable in theory doesn’t mean that Peak players don’t want some new content.
So, the devs have confirmed that they’re working on some content updates despite conceiving Peak as a quick one-and-done release.
Peak has returned (with content updates)
The combined forces of Landfall and Aggro Crab came together to make Peak as a quick little indie, with it being intended as a goofy side project for a little extra cash on the side.
But, due to its nature as a relatively small game that was made as a temporary union between two studios, updating it and making new content wasn’t exactly in the cards until the game began raking in money. Even at $5 on sale at release, two million copies is still two million copies.
However, in announcing that they’re looking into some big updates, they were trepidatious about promising anything in terms of what that content may look like.
“We will not be sharing exact details yet on what we’re looking to add to these updates. it’s very early stages but we have been noting down as many of the suggestions that we’ve received from the community as we can,” a post from the devs read.
“We won’t be able to do all of them, but we’re excited to see what we bring to PEAK! We’re still prioritizing bug fixes and stability first so don’t expect a huge content update right away.”
They also confirmed that they’re working on merchandise of the now-iconic characters from the game, giving people who are fans of Peak more ways to support it if they so choose.
With the co-op market being flooded by horror games and titles where your objective is to antagonize your friends as much as it is to help them, a game where you have to work together in order to get to the top truly is Peak.
