Peacock just added 2 Oscar-winning Westerns you need to stream this month

It’s the beginning of the month, which means a whole batch of new movies and TV shows on streaming – and Peacock has just taken first place with two incredible Westerns.

While the small screen may be dominating the Western game right now (1923 Season 2 has already premiered on Paramount+ and Netflix’s Ransom Canyon isn’t far off), some true genre gems are being added to streaming platforms this month.

But Peacock is the streaming service to look out for, with two additions that every cowboy fan worth their salt needs to have seen.

Thankfully, they’re both available to stream right now.

Peacock has added Dances with Wolves and Brokeback Mountain

As of March 1, Peacock now has Dances with Wolves and Brokeback Mountain in their collection, both of which won multiple Oscars.

Dances with Wolves – which is widely considered to be one of the best movies of all time – is Kevin Costner‘s award-winning feature that cemented him as one of the genre greats. Costner directed and starred in the movie, which sees a Civil War Lieutenant integrate himself into a Lakota tribe.

It was the fourth-highest-grossing movie of 1990, earning $424.2 million worldwide and winning seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Brokeback Mountain, Peacock’s other new movie, was released in 2005 and stars Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal as two cowboys who develop a romantic relationship while setting up a camp for the summer.

The romance movie is now considered a classic, though it was a polarizing awards contender at the time. Despite winning the Academy Award for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, it famously lost Best Picture to Crash.

In 2015, The Hollywood Reporter later polled academy members on who they would vote for if given the chance again, with Brokeback Mountain taking first place.
