Overwatch 2 devs reveal one hero who didn’t make the cut in LE SSERAFIM collab

Overwatch 2 devs have just revealed one character who they initially wanted to include in the LE SSERAFIM collab and why they didn’t make it in the end.

After previously dropping hints in the Spotlight event, Blizzard has finally unveiled its second wave of the LE SSERAFIM collab. This time, Juno, Mercy, Ashe, and Illari will be the newest additions to the stylish line-up for the K-Pop girl group skins, while D.Va, who was in the first wave, is set to receive a new outfit.

As confirmed by Blizzard, these new skins will be available in-game on March 18, 2025, and there will also be recolors for the first wave.

That said, apparently, the collab is also supposed to include one additional hero. Though they ended up not getting their own LE SSERAFIM skin in the end.

Blizzard wanted to add Roadhog, but it seems he’s not into K-Pop

In an interview with Comicbook, Overwatch 2 Art Director Dion Rogers revealed that the team originally wanted to give Roadhog a LE SSERAFIM skin “to go along” with Junkrat, who received the Fawksey James outfit as part of the first wave.

All the new LE SSERAFIM skins included in the second wave of the collab.

As it turns out, however, this decision didn’t make the cut due to Roadhog’s “musical preferences.” Rogers explained: “We really get into it when we think about what skin suits a character. We actually think about what the actual character would do.”

“And maybe Roadhog is not as into [K-Pop music] as we might think. But it was a funny thought that came by during this process because since we had done one from Junkrat. But ultimately… we’re not sure what music he’s into yet, but maybe it’s not this.”

It’s worth noting that devs have also explained why some heroes don’t have collab skins, revealing certain characters, including Roadhog, are challenging to work with due to their silhouettes.

While it may be disappointing to know Roadhog didn’t get included for some fans, rest assured that the Junkrat skin will return to the game once the second for those who missed out.

Just like when it was first introduced in 2023, this will be a free reward that can be unlocked through completing challenges.
