Overwatch 2 devs aiming to bring back OW1’s end-of-match voting cards

The Overwatch 2 team is looking to finally bring back end-of-match voting cards that were absent from the sequel.

When Overwatch 2 launched, it got rid of some of the first game’s most underappreciated features, including post-match cards that allowed the lobby to vote on who was the MVP.

These cards would show certain players’ highlights from the match, such as their total eliminations, healing, hero-specific stats like kills with their ultimate, and much more.

For years now, long-time fans have requested this feature return and we finally have confirmation that the devs are working on ways to revive it, although it may not be exactly the same as its OW1 counterpart.

Overwatch’s beloved voting cards are coming back

In a July 7 blog post, the devs revealed that they are committed to giving players more choice through progression, rewards, and connecting with other OW fans.

The devs pointed that they’ve “heard feedback that you’re missing certain features that brought personality to matches, like the old end-of-match voting cards” and acknowledged that it can bring a key element to the game.

“That kind of social expression matters,” they said. “We may have some ideas on how that could return. We’re also looking at changes to the endorsement system and iterating other ways players can recognize and interact with one another in positive, supportive ways.”

It’s not clear what this new form of voting will look like, but it follows a commitment from the development team to ensure that players have more opportunities to shape the game by implementing hero bans and map voting.

Furthermore, the devs say that they will be giving players more ways to decide what items they unlock and how come Season 18.

“Rather than overhaul big systems like progression, we’re looking to build gradually by adding more ways for you to earn cool stuff, chase your chosen goals, and feel rewarded for your time,” they revealed.

Expect more details to be revealed as we inch closer to Season 18, but by the sounds of it, these upgrades will be implemented over time with more features being rolled out slowly.
