In what has undoubtedly become the worst-kept gaming secret of 2025 so far, even more evidence suggesting that an official Oblivion Remastered reveal is imminent has surfaced.
Following the discovery of now-removed screenshots of the remaster on developer Virtuos’ website on April 15, skepticism surrounding its existence swiftly evaporated, with a rumored shadow drop instantly looking likelier than ever.
With all that said, of course, a current-gen revisit of a prettier-looking Cyrodiil still hasn’t been solidified as official by Virtuous, series creator Bethesda or the latter’s parent company, Microsoft.
As luck would have it, though, another slip-up has cemented the remaster’s existence. The source of the leak this time being none other than Microsoft’s own Bing search engine.
Oblivion Remastered indexed by Bing
First spotted by a user on the Oblivion subreddit on April 20, inputting a specific search term into Bing returns several listings for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered hosted on Virtuos’ website.
As of writing, the process is easily replicated simply by typing ‘oblivion site:https://www.virtuosgames.com’ into Bing’s search bar.
Unsurprisingly, clicking any of the links, which all lead to the same landing page, just in different languages, returns a ‘404 Page Not Found’ error. However, the fact that listings were purposely removed and that they’re still here makes it pretty obvious what’s happening.
As an aside, it’s worth noting that the URL subcategory lists “success stories” as the destination. Currently, just one project is listed on the live version of this page, the War for Wakanda Black Panther expansion for Crystal Dynamics’ now-defunct Marvel’s Avengers.
With the current rumor mill suggesting that Oblivion’s touch-up is getting shadow dropped in the week beginning April 21, fans could be mere days away from finally getting a thorough look at Skyrim’s predecessor in all its remastered glory.
