Now You See Me Venmo payments explained: Can you still get money?

Magic fans have just got their first date of Now You See Me 3, and some even got some cash to go with it. But can you still get money from the movie’s Venmo payment gimmick?

After a long wait, the Now You See Me threequel has finally dropped its first look. It’s already promising big things, stating, “The Four Horsemen return along with a new generation of illusionists performing mind-melding twists, turns, surprises, and magic unlike anything ever captured on film.”

This time around, the new movie brings together our now-estranged favorites and a brand-new generation of tricksters in order to pull off the heist of the century.

At the same time the trailer dropped, some fans noticed their Venmo balances increased… just like magic. But can you still get the Now You See Me payments?

Can you still get money from Now You See Me Venmo payments?

Unfortunately, no. Now You See Me’s Venmo marketing gimmick was only for fans who signed up for the livestream phone number, which has now ended.

But what livestream? On April 29, 2025, Now You See Mee broadcast a countdown on TikTok – which we now know was for the trailer – in Times Square, New York. As well as the countdown, the sign read, “Text for magic: 315-669-8263.”

If you text the number now, nothing will happen. But those who texted it before the countdown finished found exactly $119.16 in their Venmo accounts (if they had one). The only reference was the word “Voila,” with a magic wand emoji.

“Paying people to see a movie is a new level of desperation and sadness,” one fan replied on X/Twitter, with a second weighing in, “This movie better not flop cause this is an extremely expensive marketing trick.”

A third added, “You gonna feel goofy when they yoink your whole balance in the last scene of the movie.”

What we don’t yet know is the significance of such an exact amount of money. It’s expected this will become clear when Now You See Me 3 hits cinemas on November 14, 2025, but until then, we’ll have to keep guessing.

Now You See Me 3 trailer is already missing one key detail

All of this has been to support the release of the Now You See Me 3 trailer, which you can catch up with below. However, if fans weren’t already annoyed they missed out on free cash, they’re now annoyed by the fact Mark Ruffalo appears to be missing.

You might remember Ruffalo in the original movies as FBI agent-turned-magician Dylan Rhodes, but he is nowhere to be seen in the new footage. This is even stranger given original horseman Isla Fisher has returned to the threequel, after being replaced by Lizzy Caplan in Now You See Me 2.

However, there’s a good reason fans shouldn’t be too worried – Ruffalo has already been confirmed to return for the threequel despite not appearing in the trailer.

“We were so happy with the director’s cut, we’re already developing the next chapter,” Lionsgate‘s Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson said at CinemaCon. “We can’t wait for audiences to discover what he’s done with the third film and thrilled he’ll be making even more magic with us.”
