New Nisshinbo NL8902 High-Performance Dual Audio Op-Amp with JFET Input

Nisshinbo Micro Devices recently expanded its lineup of premium audio components with the launch of the NL8902, a high-performance dual op-amp inspired by the renowned MUSES range. The NL8902 combines low noise, low distortion, high slew rate, and high EMI immunity with exceptional audio fidelity, making it ideal for high-end audio applications while remaining cost-effective for entry-level designs. Available in a compact EMP-8 package and a smaller DFN package.
 

The new NL8902 JFET input, dual audio operational amplifier sets a new standard for entry-level devices, offering the same high quality performance of high-end models. According to Nisshinbo, the NL8902 is suitable for preamplifiers, active filters, line amplifiers, and other applications, especially for I/V conversion amplifiers that take advantage of the low input bias current characteristics of JFET inputs.

The NL8902 op-amp can be used in a wide range of applications, from entry-level to high-end designs. In addition to the low input bias current (10 pA) and high slew rate (20 V/μs), expected from op-amps with JFET input, the NL8902 device features an input noise of 10.0 nV/√Hz, with 0.0004% THD, both measured at 1kHz. In addition, the device features high EMI immunity, phase reversal suppression, and unity-gain stability, making it easy to achieve high quality audio designs.

 

The high-quality sound technology and audio characteristics cultivated in the original “MUSES” range from the Japanese company reflect its long-term experience in designing and manufacturing audio amplifiers with continuous improvements in performance and price. The new Nisshinbo NL8902 dual op-amp with JFET input delivers clear and stable quality, preventing phase reversal even when the input voltage exceeds the common-mode input voltage range, and maintaining a stable output even in the event of sudden input variations, with unity-gain stability for improved development efficiency.

The availability in a small DFN package with excellent heat dissipation performance enables mounting these op-amps in limited space, improving equipment downsizing and design flexibility. In addition, the excellent heat dissipation performance in this form factor enables stable operation even at high power output, enabling highly reliable designs.

The new Nisshinbo NL8902AN dual op-amp is now sampling in the EMP-8 or smaller DFN packages. Volume prices are available for 1,000 units and 2k reels.

 

The NL8902AN completes the family with the NL8802AN launched in 2024. This bipolar operational amplifier offers exceptionally low noise, low distortion, and a very wide operating voltage of +-3V to ±22V, making it ideal for high-quality hi-fi and professional audio applications such as preamplifiers, active filters, and line amplifiers. The NL8802AN also comes in a standard EMP-8-AN surface mount package and DFN3030-8-GQ version for high-density and portable audio designs.
