Merging Technologies Unveils Upcoming Pyramix 15
Merging Technologies announced that Pyramix 15 will be unveiled at the upcoming AES Show in New York (October 8-10, 2024). According to the Swiss company that is now part of Neumann/Sennheiser, this latest version of Pyramix comes with a modern redesign and an enhanced user experience, making it easier to use. Among the new features Pyramix 15 introduces a new fully customizable mixer, with upgraded channel strip and bus tools, seamless integration with ARA2 plugins and reengineered Merging VS3 plugins.
The most respected of all digital audio workstations (DAW), celebrating almost 30 years in the industry, Pyramix continues to be the choice for many high-quality audio productions, particularly when it comes to recording and mixing complex live performance productions. Also almost a standard in classical music recording, Pyramix offers unmatched audio fidelity with track counts and I/O capabilities up to 384, low-latency I/O at 48 kHz, and 64 inputs and outputs in DSD/DXD.
The Pyramix software combines an advanced real-time editor, versatile fade editor, complete mixing and mastering functionalities, and immersive workflows, including support for the Dolby Atmos ADM format. With the Pyramix 15 update, Merging is introducing a complete UI/UX redesign, adopting a modern dark interface in line with current DAW trends (which most likely most users will ask to revert back to how it was…).
But most experienced users will appreciate the revamped mixer in Pyramix 15, with fully customizable possibilities of configuration, allowing users to move buses, strips, and aux channels to suit their workflow. The update software also introduces upgraded Strip and Bus Tools, with support for up to 32 channels with channel selection, a new user interface, and one click access to 5 preferred presets.
In result of user feedback, the editor now accepts clip-based effects, which can applied directly to individual clips for precise control. Now boasting seamless integration with ARA2 plugins, Pyramix 15 now also brings reengineered versions of the highly appreciated Merging VS3 plugins, all optimized for even better performance. Users will also appreciate the possibility to side chain VS3/VST3/VST2 plugins in MassCore & Native modus, including multichannel support with channel selection.
Another important update is the enhanced monitoring section, with speaker group mute/solo features for multichannel workflows, ideal for Dolby Atmos production. There’s also a new Final Check tool, with a revamped interface with multichannel support, and a new Video Engine, fully overhauled for improved performance and reliability.
These new features and much more, including numerous improvements and bug fixes, will be demonstrated at the 2024 AES New York for the very first time. A portion of the Merging Technologies software team, led by Dominique Brulhart (Head of Application Software) and Maurice Engler (Product Owner – Software Solutions), will be on hand to demonstrate Pyramix 15 at the AES conference.
“It is with great pleasure and excitement that we present the newest version of Pyramix 15 to the North American sound engineering community, who have been loyal to us and have always provided valuable feedback,” says Engler. “We are confident that Pyramix 15 will meet and even exceed their expectations.”
Pyramix 15 remains a Native (ASIO/Windows-based) DAW that works with all sound cards. It is available in three software packages (Element, Pro, and Premium) with the option to add the Masscore real-time engine, enabling up to 384 low-latency I/O with Merging converters or direct integration with RAVENNA/AES67/ST2110.
Pyramix 15 will be available before the end of 2024. During the AES Show, Dale Pro Audio (#booth 343) will showcase Pyramix 15, along Hapi Mk III and Anubis. Merging will showcase it also at Lounge Studios, located next to the Javits Center, by appointment.
