Marvel Rivals devs make big move to crack down on cheaters

NetEase took a hard stance against cheating in Marvel Rivals and rolled out an update that increases the likelihood of catching a player in the act.
In December, several streamers shared clips of cheaters using wall hacks and other exploits to ruin high-ranked matches. Rivals does feature an in-depth reporting system, but some cheaters always slip through the cracks, regardless of the title.
With that in mind, NetEase has gotten extra creative in dealing with bending the rules. A match is abandoned if a cheater is found, and nothing will be recorded on the career page. Players praised this approach, and CoD and Valorant players expressed that they’d like something similar.
The devs didn’t stop there, this time focusing on a third-party software exploit.
Marvel Rivals devs reveal plan to prevent use of third-party plugins
NetEase announced that a third-party plugin called Blitz is banned because “this program injects itself into our game process, giving users confidential information like damage and healing statistics.
“It allows players to selectively ban heroes, predict opponents’ ultimate abilities, and more, severely undermining the fairness of our game,” they explained.
In the end, NetEase decided they “deem this program cheating software and will no longer allow its use during gameplay.”
The devs added that players will not be penalized if they previously used the software, but cheaters will be punished if they use it again.
Some players are concerned because they use Blitz for other titles and aren’t sure if that will impact their ability to play Rivals.
“Do we need to uninstall Blitz,” one user asked. “I use it for other games but not rivals. Will I risk getting banned with it open alongside rivals even if it’s disabled for the game?”
“What happens if I use Blitz with League of Legends and I forget to close Blitz when I want to play Marvel Rivals,” a second commenter asked.
It’s unclear if those players will be banned for having the software installed or open, but it would be safe to uninstall it while playing Rivals.
