Leica unveils ZM 12 watch collection with refined design

Leica has announced the latest evolution of its luxury watch lineup with the release of the ZM 12 collection. Inspired by the brand’s philosophy of precision engineering and minimalist design, the new models refine the aesthetics and functionality of the ZM 11, offering a more compact 39mm case and enhanced dial details.

One of the most striking features of the ZM 12 is its dual-layered dial, which plays with light and shadow to create depth and visual intrigue. A small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock adds to the overall symmetry, while Swiss Grade A Super-LumiNova ensures excellent legibility in low-light conditions. The case is available in either stainless steel or titanium, catering to different style preferences.

At the heart of the ZM 12 is the Leica Calibre LA-3002, an automatic movement developed in collaboration with Swiss watch specialists Chronode. The movement features 38 jewels, an impressive 60-hour power reserve, and a high level of timekeeping precision, with an accuracy of -4/+6 seconds per day. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour, the movement is measured in five positions to ensure optimal performance.

The collection includes four distinct models: ZM 12 Steel Blue Orange, ZM 12 Steel Silver Grey, ZM 12 Steel Olive Black, and ZM 12 Titanium Chocolate Black. Each watch comes with interchangeable straps handcrafted in Leica’s artisanal workshop, allowing wearers to personalise their timepiece. The strap options include a premium technical textile with a sophisticated pattern and a high-quality rubber strap with an inverted “Clou de Paris” texture in a bold orange hue.

Dr. Andreas Kaufmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Leica Camera AG, emphasised the brand’s dedication to merging technical excellence with minimalist aesthetics, stating, “Every addition to the ZM Watch Collection is an opportunity to showcase our philosophy of merging technical excellence with minimalist design.”
