Landman Season 2 can finally fix the show’s biggest mistake

Taylor Sheridan fans can rejoice, because Landman Season 2 has finally been confirmed by Paramount Plus, and it could mean a huge improvement is on the horizon.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Sheridan’s oil drama is getting a second season. After gaining numbers on the Paramount+ streaming service, Landman even managed to outrank the likes of Squid Game Season 2 in some weeks.
Naturally, a second season for Tommy Norris and his family seemed to be on the cards. Season 2 was officially confirmed on March 13, with the release date and returning cast members being kept under wraps for now.
That’s all well and good, but there’s one thing the new season needs to do to improve on the first, and it all involves leaving behind a certain plotline. Or rather, certain people.
Landman Season 2 should focus less on Tommy’s family
The Landman Season 1 finale left fans on something of a cliffhanger. Not only had Tommy cemented a new friendship with criminal mastermind Gallino, but M-Tex Oil was also now without a leader following the heartbreaking death of Monty.
Tommy and Cami are going to have to step up to see through the company during this difficult time, so everyone’s livelihoods are on the line.
But Season 2 also has the potential to improve upon one of the most-criticized elements of the show: the overuse of Tommy’s family. Specifically, Angela and Ainsley.
From the first episode onwards, scenes with Ainsley were called “gross” by fans, who said the character was hyper-sexualized and unrealistic. Equally, Angela was also dubbed as occupying too much of the spotlight.
With a whole new season to play with, Sheridan has the chance to focus on Tommy’s oil dealings and how he will cope with his new position of power. Plus, there’s plenty of drama to explore with his new “partnership” with Gallino.

Clearly, fans would rather see more of this and less of Ainsley and Angela. As one Redditor wrote, “Fingers crossed we get a better story line with more oil and less wife and daughter!”
“Ali Larter is an amazing train wreck on the show. Hopefully less pervy stuff with the daughter, though,” said another.
A third added, “Their characters are so dumb and unnecessary to and otherwise pretty good show.”
