Kill Tony ends 12-year streak of YouTube episodes with Netflix premier

Kill Tony has officially ended its 12-year streak of posting new episodes on YouTube, with the show arriving on Netflix.
Kill Tony has become one of the top comedy podcasts in the world, giving amateur comedians a chance to show what they’re capable of in one-minute sets. They’re then interviewed (and often roasted) by guests, typically famous comedians, in unfiltered segments.
On April 7, after 12 years and over 700 episodes, Tony Hinchliffe’s comedy podcast show ‘Kill Tony’ wasn’t broadcast on YouTube.
Instead, the episode, filmed from The Comedy Mothership in Austin, Texas, debuted on Netflix with a comedy special dubbed ‘Kill or Be Killed.’
Kill Tony has ended its 12-year streak of weekly YouTube episodes.
Kill Tony’s Netflix debut ends YouTube streak
Kill Tony’s first Netflix debut is part of a deal to bring three exclusive episodes to the streaming platform. The deal was rumored for quite a while before being confirmed back in March.
While the episode aired on Netflix, Kill Tony posted a statement on YouTube reminding viewers about the move.
“For the first time in 12 years, this Monday’s brand new episode of Kill Tony will not be posted on YouTube. But fear not, because there is a brand new episode for you to experience… and it’s one of the greatest episodes ever,” the statement reads before fleshing to the Netflix logo.
The episode was completely stacked with comics like Joe Rogan and Tom Segura as guests. It also featured Shane Gillis doing his iconic Trump impersonation and Kyle Dunnigan, who mimicked Elon Musk.
It’s no surprise that Gillis whipped out the Trump impression for the episode. The comedian’s impersonation on Kill Tony 672 became the show’s most-watched episode to date on YouTube with 24M views.
According to Hinchcliffe, that segment set a YouTube record. “It holds a YouTube record according to the people from YouTube for retention rate. Anybody that watched it went back and started it where they stopped it the day before or watched it the whole way through,” he explained.
As part of the deal, a one-hour standup special from Hinchcliffe will also be premiering on Netflix.
