Johnny Somali pleads for forgiveness to leave South Korea without going to jail

Controversial streamer Johnny Somali claims he’s “learned his lesson” and is promising to stop his chaotic broadcasts as he faces jail time in South Korea.

Johnny Somali, real name Ramsey Khalid Ismael, has terrorized Japan, Israel and South Korea with his bombastic content that got him banned on Kick.

While Ismael escaped Japan and Israel with just a slap on the wrist, he’s facing mandatory jail time in South Korea. In addition to pleading guilty to Obstruction of Business, he’s been hit with an AI deepfake charge that carries mandatory prison time, not to mention a couple of other charges on top.

With Somali is scheduled to return to court on April 9, he’s been filming a documentary with a crew about his nusiance streams. During an interview for the project, he revealed that he would severely dial back his content if he was spared jail.

Johnny Somali vows to tone down controversial content

Speaking with the filmmakers on Parti, Somali was asked if he would have “leaned his lesson” if the charges against him are dropped and he could leave the country.

“Yeah, for sure. This is definitely the last time I’m gonna go to a country and look for how to go viral on the f**king TVs,” he claimed.

“The first time I was on Korean TV, I was excited,” he added, boasting about how his nuisance streams made headlines in foreign countries. “But then it turns to be sour very quickly, because you’re on the radar of politicians and police.”

According to Johnny, if he’s on the news in the next country he goes to, he’d leave it the very same day – something his moderators had even suggested back when he was visiting Japan.

“If they let me just pay the [fine] and go home, I’ve definitely learned my lesson,” he added.

With Somali’s trial ongoing, we’ll have to see if he’s actually able to leave South Korea and return to America or if his fears are realized and he ends up spending time behind bars.
