Jake Paul finally gets world boxing ranking as champion wants to fight him

Jake Paul has officially been given a boxing world ranking in the Cruiserweight division, and can now fight for a world title. Seriously.

When Jake Paul first stepped into the boxing world, he was just like most YouTubers, using the sport as a way to settle his online beefs. However, he has since changed things up.

The ‘Problem Child’ is now serious about winning a world title and taking on some of the best boxers around. He started on that path with wins over Andre August, Ryan Bourland, and Mike Tyson.

It was suggested that if Jake was able to “convincingly” beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., he would finally be ranked by at least one of the boxing boards – the WBA. While he didn’t score a knockout victory, it was a unanimous decision win, prompting a shift in the rankings.

Jake Paul is now ranked by WBA

That’s right, the YouTuber-turned-boxer has now been ranked, putting him on the map for actual world title fights.

The WBA have ranked Jake as the 14th best Cruiserweight in the world, one spot behind Italian Giovanni Cristian Scuderi, who has been fighting in the Heavyweight division more recently.

Prior to his win over Cesar Chavez Jr., Jake revealed to ESPN that he was in talks with WBC Cruiserweight champion Badou Jack about a potential clash. However, he would need a WBC ranking to make that happen.

Jake Paul is the 14th best Cruiserweight, according to the WBA.

Being ranked by the WBA gives him the chance to fight Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez for the belt. Ramirez, 34, has a 48-1 record and retained his WBA (Super) and WBO cruiserweight titles on the undercard of Jake’s most recent win.

The Mexican is in negotiations with Jai Opetaia to unify the Cruiserweight division, however, he is interested in a fight with Jake.

“If he wants to fight me, I’m willing to fight him,” he said following his own win over Yuniel Dorticos.
